Takahe eats wide range of plants.


Nests under bushes.


Lays 1 to 2 eggs October.


Both Male/Female sit on eggs.


Only found in NZ


First sighted in 1847 Europeans


Rediscovered 1948( Found by southland medical doctor Geoffrey Orbell, in Murchison valley)


Not a Pukeko( Takahe are larger and can’t fly)


Part of Rallidae family of birds ( They are a large family of small to medium sized, ground living birds)


400 Takahe still left in NZ( It is growing 10% each year)


In the wild, takahe only exist in the Murchison Mountains, Fiordland National Park, recently Gouland Downs in Kahurangi National Park .


Takahe are flightless birds.


Length is 50 Cm


Weight 2-3.5 Kg


Largest bird of the Rallidae family


Takahe have stout( Which means fat orquite big) red legs


Takahe also have strong red beaks


Their feathers range from a dark blue, also olive green and turquoise on their back

My new Kitten!

My New Kitten!
A couple of weeks ago Mum and I got a new kitten. Her name is Minnie and she is 3 months old. Every morning she wakes me up at 6 o'clock sharp. I feed her biscuits and jellytmeat in the morning, also at night. She is very, very playful and funny.
Her breed is Manx. They come in many colours like White, Blue, Black, Red, Cream, Silver and more.
